Flybridge

Return To Index

A flybridge is an open, raised deck located above a yacht’s main deck, featuring a second helm station, panoramic views, and leisure seating. Primarily found on motor yachts and catamarans, it provides increased visibility for navigation and added, comfortable outdoor space for socializing, often accessible via stairs from the cockpit.

Key Features and Benefits:
Secondary Steering: Enables the captain to operate the boat from a higher, open-air position, enhancing maneuvering visibility.

Leisure & Comfort: Used as a popular spot for sunbathing, lounging, and socializing, often including sofas, lounges, and sometimes a wet bar.

Design Variations: These areas can be completely exposed to the elements or protected by a hardtop or bimini.

Layout Improvement: By moving the helm station up to the flybridge, manufacturers free up space in the main deck saloon and cockpit.

Alternatives: Sometimes referred to as a "flying bridge" or "monkey bridge".
